Shichimi Togarashi Baked Tofu Nuggets


  • 1 block lowfat silken tofu

  • 2 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 2 Tablespoon nutritional yeast

  • 1/2 Shichimi Togarashi (Japanese seven-spice chili pepper)

  • 1 tsp parsley

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • Koshur salt & Fresh ground pepper to taste

Prep Time: Over Night

Cooking Time: 30-45 min

Cut tofu into 1/4 thick slabs. Carefully place in a plastic bag and pour soy sauce and water over it. Close bag and place in a bowl in the refrigerator. Allow to marinate several hours or overnight, turning occaisionally.

Mix dry ingredients together and place on a shallow plate. Carefully coat the marinated tofu cubes in the mixture. Lightly spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray and place the coated cubes on the tray. Bake in a 400F oven for 30-45 minutes, or until lightly browned (cook longer if you want the nuggets to have more of a dense texture, less if you like the light cheesy texture of the silken tofu).
